He was predeceased by: his parents, Neal Gillenwater and Rosie Gillenwater; his daughter Rosa Starnes; and his siblings, Annis Lee Yoakley, Elizabeth Bellamy, Macie Gillenwater, George Gillenwater of Otis Gillenwater, J. C and Ronald Gillenwater.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa, Joey, Charles, Jr., Joie, Chad, Jason, Brandy, Kayla and William; his sons-in-law, David Starnes and Eddie Jenkins; and his siblings, Cora Gilbert, Juanita Biorck, Linda Williams and Don Gillenwater. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
