He is survived by: his former wife Shelby Jean Combs Hammonds; his son Benny Wayne Hammonds; his grandchildren, Brian, Jessica and Jonathan Hammonds; his great grandchildren, Kaelie, Kylie and Kallie Hammonds; his siblings, Lizzy Tipton, Lula Jennings, Bradley, Johnny, Bill, Bob, Odell and Ray; his wife Marie Hammonds of Gate City, VA; his children, Conley Hammonds (Lisa) of Gate City, VA, Rickey Hammonds (LaDonna) of Gate City, VA, Steve Hammonds (Helen) of Gate City, VA, Lisa Darnell (Lee) of Gate City, VA, Brandy Hammonds of Gate City, VA, Melinda Carter (Jimmy) of Ft Blackmore, VA and Melissa Gibson of Clinchport, VA; and his siblings, Gene Hammonds of Kingsport, TN, Ettie Spivey of Gate City, VA and Shirley Tipton of Weber City, VA. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
