With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Egan (Gate City, Virginia), born in Kingsport, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 28, 2024 at the age of 73. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Kelly Bishop and Nannie Jane Bishop; and her siblings-in-law, Wanda Dockery, Joann Egan, Kathy Egan, Lee Egan, Jim Statzer and Bill Dockery.
She is survived by: her significant other Billy Egan; her son Chris Egan (Brittany); her grandson Ethan Page; her sister Debbie Sloan (William); her siblings-in-law, Geneva Williams (Melvin), Shirley Statzer, Martha Burton and James Egan; her aunts and uncles, Wilma Sloan, Lou Tipton, Guy Tipton and Jack Tipton; and her close friends, Remi Steadman and Lisa Cowan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gate City Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at the Holston View Cemetery (226 Yuma Rd, Weber City, VA 24290).
