He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sam and Clara Ann Lewis Phipps; and his wife Zella May Phipps. He is survived by: his son Robert Wayne Phipps, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Lisa of Chatham, Virginia; his stepdaughter Elizabeth Clubb; his grandchildren, Matthew Dillion Phipps (Stephanie) and Amanda Doss (Bradley); his great grandchildren, Lathan Todd Doss, Sophie Alayne Doss and Walker McCrae Dillion; and his close friends, Bill Spurlin and Terry Holt.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Felts Memorial Cemetery (846 Glendale Rd, Galax, VA 24333).
