With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Luvenie Virginia Chappell of Galax, Virginia, who passed away on March 4, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Lee Ferrell and Rhoda Surratt Ferrell; and her sister Nancy Lee Ferrell. She is survived by: her husband Charles R. Chappell Sr.; her son Charles R. Chappell Jr.; her godchildren, Michael, Suzanne Wesolowski, Victoria Wesolowski Hill, Zach Hill, Christopher Wesolowski and Jeffrey Wesolowski; and her friends, Linda Burnette and Bonnie Harmon. She is also survived by nieces and nephews from her own and her husband.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring can make contributions in her memory to the First United Methodist Church of Galax, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Disabled Veterans of America, National Park Foundation USO, or the Appalachian Children's Fund.
