She was predeceased by : her parents, Marvin Smythers and Vera Spivey Smythers; and her friends, Carolyn Peddy and Kathleen Barker. She is survived by : her husband Harold Cox; her son Mike Cox of Dublin; her sister Barbara Newman (J. C.); her siblings-in-law, Hilda Cochran (Roger), Regina Lundy (Robert) of Ennice, Ronnie Cox (Pat) and Dennis Cox (Diane) of Galax, Virginia.; and her close friends, Betty, Junior Patton, Debbie, Dennis Frost, Wanda Williams and Jaime Peddy.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 25th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel (201 W Center St, Galax, VA 24333). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church (4987 Pipers Gap Rd, Galax, VA 24333).
