He was predeceased by: his parents, David Parks and Idella Joines Ray; his granddaughter Holly Michelle Bolen; and his siblings, Rose Vaught and Clay Ray.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Farmer Ray of Galax, Virginia; his daughters, Connie Ray (Warren Altizer) and Rhonda Ray (Mike Bolen); and his sister Mae Ray Barker of Tennessee. He is also survived by five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the American Kidney Foundation or the Humane Society.
