With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Gilmer Ashby Jr. of Galax, Virginia, who passed away on May 15, 2023 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gilmer Ashby and Dorothy Ashby of Galax, VA.; and his cousin Bernard Lindsey.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Galax Public Library.
