With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Freddie Sue Swinney of Galax, Virginia, born in Yadkinville, North Carolina, who passed away on December 31, 2021 at the age of 79. She was predeceased by: her parents, Terry Hodge and Hattie Cain Hodge; her sisters, Emma Lou Hodge, Brenda Sue Hodge, Clara Griffin (Tootsie) and Joyce Linda Shaw; her half-brother Terry Hodge; and her great grandchild Aven Robert McCann.
She is survived by: her husband Glen "Joe" Swinney of Galax, Virginia; her children, Wayne (Tena Swinney), Tresea (Lester Felts) and Craig (Dawn Swinney); her grandchildren, Nicole, Marc McCann, Anthony Felts, Elena, Charity Felts, Crissa Swinney (Katiana Desgrottes), Madison Swinney and Carson Swinney; and her siblings, Kay (Kenneth Belton), Terry Lynn Burnett of Independence, Shirley (Frank Jennings), Nancy (Garey Cummings), Wanda (Ricky Bemis), Earnest (Patricia Hodge) and Tommy (Betty Hodge). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
