He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Homer and Mary Johnson Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Patti Nelson of Galax, Virginia; his daughter Lindsey; his son-in-law Tom Logue of Bluffton; his son Matt; his daughter-in-law Ali Nelson of Bluffton; his grandchildren, Brody, Braxton Logue and Grant Nelson; and his siblings, Doris Ratliff of Cedar Bluff, Virginia and Lawrence Homer Nelson of Richlands, Virginia.. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
