He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Edwards and Marie Lilly Edwards; his siblings, Thomas Lilly (Buster), Fredericka Wilson, Beulah Proctor, Gladys Scott and Joyce Mullins; his foster son James Carter; and his son-in-law Eugene W Connelley.

He is survived by: his daughter Anitra Marie Connelley. He is also survived by three granddaughters; and seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
