He was predeceased by: his parents, Carey G. Athey and Rebecca Athey; and his siblings, Dorothy Nance, Helen Jenkins, Jack and Virgil Athey.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara L. Athey; his children, Robert R. Athey, Jr. (Cyndi) of Sneads Ferry, Michelle Athey Davis (Larry) of Front Royal and Renee D. Athey of Front Royal; and his sisters, Loretta Bowen of Mooresville and Roberta Greene of Wilmington. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 24th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the LifePoint Church (1111 N Shenandoah Ave, Front Royal, VA 22630).
