Preston Edward Barbour Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Preston Edward Barbour of Front Royal, Virginia, who passed away on January 25, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Barbour and Mattie Barbour (Johnson); and his sister Yvonne. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Boykins of Newport News, Virginia.; his son Brian; his daughter-in-law Lori of Stephens City, Virginia.; his grandchildren, William and Montgomery of Stephens City; his siblings, Charles (Vera) of Fayetville, Dorothy "Dottie" Prather (James) of Mitchelville, Maryland, Gerald (Beverly) of Yonkers, Brenda of Forestville, Maryland and Sybil of Bethesda; his son Michael Williams (Sherry) of Front Royal; and his friends, Robert Travis (Bobby) and Creedell Fitzhugh. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
However, shortly after retirement Preston was diagnosed with dementia, and on September 11, 2022 he contracted COVID, then while at a rehabilitation facility, he developed an extremely severe bed wound which resulted in his passing on January 25, 2023 at his home in Front Royal, Virginia.
While flowers and cards are appreciated, the family asks instead that you consider a donation in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association or his home church, John Wesley United Methodist of Front Royal, Virginia.
