Kenneth Scott Reuwer Obituary
Kenneth Scott “Ken” Reuwer, 61, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 while on the Thompson Hollow Trailhead.
Ken was born on July 29, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Milton and Mary Kathleen Murray Reuwer. He married Michelle Goldbeck in 1983, and together they have six children. Ken was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lucy Reuwer.
Ken studied at St. Fidelis High School with the Capuchin friars. Later he attended Johns Hopkins University, graduated from Virginia Tech, and has a certificate of Legislative Studies from Georgetown University. His professional career spanned across continents in service of our country as a Special Agent for the Defense Investigative Service, Central Intelligence Agency, and Naval Criminal Investigative Service, culminating in his retirement as NCIS Deputy Assistant Director. Over that time he also led the investigation of the attack on the USS Cole, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and assisted a member of the House of Representatives as a defense advisor.
In his retirement, Ken served as an active chair on Chelsea Academy’s Board of Directors. While “retired,” he worked as an investigative research contractor, security consultant, handyman, event coordinator and most importantly, a husband and father. When not at his kids’ school and sporting events, he could often be found on a golf course or a baseball diamond, enjoying some of his favorite pastimes.
Ken is survived by his wife of 41 years, Michelle Reuwer; his five sons: Father Daniel Reuwer, Michael Reuwer, Patrick Reuwer (Rachel), Stephen Reuwer and Thomas “Brooks” Reuwer; daughter, Christina Reuwer; his six brothers: Mike Reuwer, John Reuwer, David Reuwer, Chris Reuwer, Steven Reuwer and Tom Reuwer; his two sisters: Trisha Elkins and Kathy Guess; his two grandchildren: Mackenzie Reuwer and Benedict Reuwer, and so many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
