He was predeceased by: his parents, John Troy Kilby and Bessie Elizabeth Powers Kilby; his former wife Catherine Smythe Kilby; and his siblings, Elsie Kilby and Budd Kilby.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie; his children, Jennifer Fertig, Stephanie Buckner and Brian Kilby; his grandchildren, Ashley Johnson (James) and John Michael Fertig (Amy); and his great grandchildren, Lila Rose Fertig, Avery Theisen, Cameron Johnson and Brayden Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends.
