He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lewis McFarland Sr. and Mary Helen McFarland; and his grandparents, Willie McFarland, Lois McFarland and Helen Gray.

He is survived by: his significant other Wilmer Rodriguez; and his brothers, Lynn McFarland and Tommy McFarland.
