He is survived by: his wife Mary Vaughan South of Fries, Virginia; his daughter Cynthia; his son-in-law Raymond Paduani of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his son Anthony Gray South of Fries, Virginia; his sister Patsy Diamond of Galax, Virginia; and his brothers-in-law, Earnest Hodge of Galax, Virginia and Billy Vaughan of Fries, Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
