He was predeceased by: his parents, Auddie Lee and Clover Eugnia Ballard Baumgardner; his wife Laura Jane Baumgardner; and his son Virgil James Dixon. He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Baumgardner; his stepdaughter Janet Felts of Galax, Virginia; his daughter-in-law Cathy Dixon of Fries; his siblings, Dora Lee Coleman of Galax, Lois Ann Shupe of Galax and Billy Baumgardner of Mt. Airy; his grandchildren, Brandi Leigh Frazier and Byron Roger Shinault; and his stepgrandchildren, Melinda Ann Burris, Sarah Michelle Tucker, William Cody Archer and Thomas Brent Archer. He is also survived by Nine Great Grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to assist with the expenses for the service.
