He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Lee and Thelma Louise Edwards Powell; his siblings, Hazel Elliott, Joe, Nelson and Walter Powell; and the mother of his children Gladys Powell.
He is survived by: his close friend Glenda Layden; his children, Marty Powell, Mike Powell (Rodney Miller) and Teresa Simmons (Bunk); his grandchildren, Kaitlynn Condrey (Wes) and Madison Powell; his great grandchild Kaydence Condrey; his siblings, Frank Powell (Louise), Lonnie Powell (Joyce), Edward Powell, Jr. (Carolyn), Wilson Powell (Penny), Kenny Powell and Louise Joyner (Stanley); and his sisters-in-law, Julia Powell and Marie Powell. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
