He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Stamey and Barbara Stamey. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Katherine Leach Stamey; his children, Lori Anne Yücel (Gökhan) and Richard Christopher Stamey (Kana); his granddaughter Caitlyn Stamey; his siblings, Carol McCulloch (Larry), Janet Joslin (George), Mary Miller (Ed) and Alan Stamey (Carla); and his friends, Sue Good and Nelson Good. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Cancer Society.
