He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lee Hayes and Barbara Sparks; his sister Jennie-Belle Skeins; his wife Joan Null Hayes; his former wife Bernadette Hayes; his daughter Becky Vogt Culbertson; and his great grandchild Madison Jett.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Anderson (Kenneth), Pattie Sue Santini, Kellie Jett (Robin) and James Hayes; and his siblings, Louise Taylor, Helen Estepp and Charlie Hayes. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
