He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Willard McWhirt and Sarah Belle Groves McWhirt of Stafford; his wife Irene Gallahan McWhirt; his children, Rannie Burgess, Ralph Burgess, Mary Thompson and Delmar Burgess; and his siblings, Willard McWhirt, William McWhirt, Gracie Hazel McWhirt, Frank McWhirt, Edna McWhirt and Everett McWhirt.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ruthann McWhirt Copeland (Tim), Lisa McWhirt Dickinson (Richard) of Stafford and Shirley Burgess Marquis (Alan). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
