He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde A. and Mary E. Carpenter. He is survived by: his children, Derrick R. Carpenter (Kim), Michael C. Carpenter (late Marlo) and Pamela R. Carpenter; his grandchildren, Duante, Micheal, Chryston, Christopher, Ashanti and Milay; his wife Barbara Ann Young of Culpeper, Virginia.; his siblings, McKinley Carpenter (Regina) of Plano, TX, William Carpenter (Sarah) of Norfolk, VA, Donald Carpenter of Culpeper, VA, Jane C. Pollard of Culpepper, VA, Charlotte Carpenter of Culpeper, VA and Celestine Parker (James) of Brandy Station, VA; his siblings-in-law, Joan Zarate of Gaithersburg, MD, Linda Bordess of Jacksonville, FL, Carolyn Hutcherson of Stafford, VA, Joseph Freeman of Kensington, MD, Otis Young of Orange, VA, William Young of Culpeper, VA and Vance Young of Culpeper, VA; and his niece Jennifer Long (Monica Franklin). He is also survived by children; his six aforementioned grandchildren; his six aforementioned great-grandchildren.
