He was predeceased by: his mother Florence McNabb Nicely; his grandchildren, Kyle and Sarah McGuigan; and his close friend Gene Mason. He is survived by: his brother Jerry R. Nicely (Sandra) of Covington; his wife Betty Paitsel Nicely of Fredericksburg; and his children, Joy Lindus (Bill) of Urbanna, Vivian Layman (Steve) of Colorado Springs, Ann McGuigan of Chester, Richard Wayne Nicely Jr. (Michelle) of Fredericksburg and Jennifer Nicely of Sanford, NC.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; his fur son Bear, and numerous grand dogs and grand cats.
