He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Brooks (Turner) and Ellen E. Wilson Brooks; and his children, Deborah Y. Brooks Liggan, Juan M. Brooks and Michael C. Brooks.
He is survived by: his daughter Sharon D. Brooks Hodge; his wife Alberta Hall Brooks (Peggy); his son John M. Brooks (Jenna Stauffer Brooks); his grandchildren, Desiree F. Liggan, Rachael A. Liggan, Ariel L. Jipping (Clayton Jipping), Cameron Hodge, John M. "Jack" Brooks Jr. and Jordan S. Brooks; and his great grandchildren, Felicity and Claire Jipping. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
