She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Bernard Coleman, Jr.; and her son Robert Edward Coleman. She is survived by: her children, Joseph Coleman, III, Charles Coleman (Diane) and Marilyn Banks (Thurman); her sister Florence Givens (Josephus); and her siblings-in-law, Louis Alsop and Viola Coleman. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, close friends, and other relatives.
