He was predeceased by: his parents, Lelia Thomas, and John Thomas, Sr.; his sisters, Julia Whitley, Violet Howdershelt, Lillian Sullivan and Elizabeth Vepperman; and his stepson Gregory Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara D. Thomas; his stepson Jeffery Hall (Debbie); his grandsons, Stuart Hall, Daryl Hall (Brianna), Daniel Hall and Adam Hall; and his great grandchild Carter Gregory Hall. He is also survived by his loving wife, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, John's family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Eastland United Methodist Church, 10718 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
