He is survived by: his children, David Scott Pearce of Fredericksburg, Dr. Hannah Phillips Pearce of Charlottesville and Virginia (Bruce Cohen); his grandchildren, Madeline, Aaron, Benjamin and Eli Cohen; and his former wife Alix Sommer Smith (Pearce).
