She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Walter M. Shipp and Margaret Nagle Shipp; her former husband Barton H. Boxwell; her husband Walter Jervis Sheffield; her siblings, Victoria Shipp Paulson, Leslie Ann Shipp of Falls Run and Fredric Shipp (Myra) of Cary, NC; and her caregivers, Debbie, Earline and Tasha.

She was an interim Executive Director of the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation.
