He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Boyd and Bernice Boyd; and his siblings, Reginald Boyd, Chester Boyd, Pauline Haines and Audrey Humphrey.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Boyd of Fredericksburg; his children, Virginia (Rick Slusher) of Manassas and Timothy (Tammy Huntt) of Stafford; his sister Sandra Hardison of Arapahoe, NC.; and his grandchildren, Alyssa (Kevin Fenstermacher) of Haymarket, Greg (Lauren Slusher) of Holly Springs, NC, Emily Huntt of Raleigh, NC and Lindsey Huntt of Stafford. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
