She was predeceased by: her parents, James Robinson and Mary Robinson Nickens; her husband Joseph Fortune; and her siblings, Pearl Johnson, Dorothy Coleman, Fannie Coleman, Lola Hinson, Gladys Johnson, James Robinson, Ryland Robinson, Gilbert Nickens and Walter Robinson.

She is survived by: her children, Darlene Breeden and Joseph Allen Fortune (Pam); her sisters, Helen Morgan and Emma Childs; her grandchildren, Iris "Nikki" Rosado, Joseph Lipscomb and Joshua Fortune; her great grandchildren, Noelle and Nadia Banawoe; and her niece Elsie Johnson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
