He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thomas Jernigan and Elma Holloman Jernigan; and his grandson Ryan P. Jackson. He is survived by: his children, Debbie J. Jackson (Mike), Elaine Umphlette (Brian) and Richard H. "Richie" Jernigan, Jr. (Nikki) of Franklin; his siblings, G. T. Jernigan (Sue) of Franklin, Gene Jernigan (Nancy) of North Carolina, Steve Jernigan of North Carolina, Martha Jernigan (Don) of North Carolina, Gail Jernigan of North Carolina, Linda Cartwright (Ray) of North Carolina and Judy Mizell (Lin) of North Carolina; his grandsons, Paul Jackson (Ayumi), Taylor Jackson (Franci), Bradley Jernigan (Miranda), Nicholas Jernigan (Jackson) and Michael Parker (Melissa); his great grandchildren, Logan and Isaiah Parker; and his sister-in-law Rachel Chopps (Dan) of Florida.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
