She was predeceased by: her parents, Elton P. Futrell, Sr. and Fannie Jo Vick Futrell; her husband J. W. Sumner; and her siblings, Elton Futrell, Jr., Rufus E. Williams, Jim Williams, Mary Latimer and Pauline Philhower.
She is survived by: her daughter Jo Ann Grossman; her grandchildren, Rudee Payne (Joe) of Santee, CA, Miles Bryant of Minnesota and Reno Bryant (Miranda) of Minnesota; and her great grandchildren, Jordan Matthew Payne, Jamie Monique Payne, Josia Maleek Payne and Joseph Michael Payne, Jr. (Jo Jo).
A memorial service was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Franklin Baptist Church (208 N High St, Franklin, VA 23851).
In lieu of flowers, Josephine requested memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N. High Street, Franklin, VA 23851.
