He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Ewell and Myrtle Ewell; his wife Shirley; his stepson Mark Schroder; and his brother Walter "Buddy".
He is survived by: his nephew Matthew; his daughter Jodie McGowan; his son-in-law Keith McGowan; his granddaughter Casey Hoy (Michael); his siblings, Jean Marshall (Daniel), Dolores Lockwood and Robert G. (Paulette); and his sister-in-law Barbara Ewell. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
