He was predeceased by: his parents, Lottie Owens Pierson and William Piert Pierson; and his siblings, Bertie Mullins, Sue Dingus, Autho, Dallas "Shab", Clifford, Palmer "Hop", Bill and Kelly "Cub" Pierson.
He is survived by: his children, Vickie Murdock (Jeff) of Fort Blackmore, VA and Jon Pierson of Fort Blackmore, VA; his granddaughter Heather Hood (Nathan); his great grandchildren, Chandler Quillin, Creed Mack, Braxton and Loxleigh Hood; the mother of his children Jo Ripley of Kingsport, TN; and his siblings, Margie Sanders of Weber City, VA, Fred Pierson (Sally) and Doug Pierson (Faye) of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 11:15 AM at the Gate City Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A graveside service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Qualls Cemetery.
