He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Franklin and Ruby Gregory Bowles; his daughter Marsha Gay Bowles; and his brothers, Wade Bowles and Gary Haislip.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda Lloyd Bowles; his daughters, Cathy Bowles Maggi (Robert) of Forest and Melissa Bowles Burton (Justin) of Forest; his sister Betty B. Clingenpeel (Ronnie) of Salem, VA.; and his grandchildren, Carter, Connor Maggi, Abigayle and Ava Lee.
