Though John William may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John William touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Washington Smith and Lottie Williams Smith. He is survived by: his wife EthelAnne Smith; his children, David A. Smith (Diana) and Debra A. Carter; his sister Virginia Carter (John); and his sisters-in-law, Josephine Smith and Gloria Smith. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Forest Community Fellowship Church (1517 Thomas Jefferson Rd, Forest, VA 24551). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
