He is survived by: his wife Velvie Jean Proffitt; his children, Larry Proffitt (Kathy), Gary Proffitt (Betty), Jeff Proffitt, Debra Ray (Ronnie), Kathy Horton (Randy) and Velvie Patrie (Chris); and his brother Thomas Proffitt.
