She was predeceased by: her parents, Ward Compton and Minnalee Compton; her husband Theodore Via, Jr.; her children, Gerald and Suzie Lee; and her siblings, Patsy Cockram, Ruby Vest, Hazel Howery and Bruce Compton.
She is survived by: her children, Mark Via (Karen) of Floyd and Sarah Browning (Michael) of Copper Hill; her daughter-in-law Vicky Via of Roanoke; her grandchildren, Melissa Johnson of Fincastle, Angela Myers (Mike) of Floyd, Patricia Moore of Roanoke, Laura Lee Allen (Brandon) of Floyd, Ryan Browning (Sarah) of Troutville and Matthew Browning (Stephanie) of Troutville; her great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Emma, Eli Johnson, Trevan Via (Chloe), Kaylee Myers, Ashby Moore, Addison, Nash, Tucker, Sada Allen, Abigail, Hannah, Peyton Browning, Elliana, Adelyn Louise and Myra Jane Browning; and her sister Lucy McAlexander (Charles).
