He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Sumler and Ethel Mae Honaker Sumler; his former wife Lucille Marie Sumler; his son Steven Sumler; and his siblings, Margaret Craft, Juanita Barker, Louise Montgomery, Frances Ratcliff and George Sumler.
He is survived by: his wife Louise J. Sumler; his children, Richard Sumler (Loretta), Bobby Sumler (Phyllis) and Teresa Mills (Larry); his stepsons, Ronald D. Snyder and Terry Dale Snyder; his siblings, Lewis Sumler, Roger Sumler (Betty), Mary Linkous and Dorothy Duncan; and his close friend Wayne Blaine. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 adopted grandchildren.
