He was predeceased by: his parents, George Baten Johnson and Louise Agnes Johnson (Woods); his sister Nellie Hays; and his siblings-in-law, Buford Gill and Dorothy Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Louise Johnson of Fishersville; his son Bobby Johnson (Faye); his sister Maggie Otiz (Santiago); his grandson Jacob; and his siblings-in-law, Peggy Buchanan (Charlie), Aliesa Shuey (Roger), Ruth Gill, Samuel Gill, Jeff Gill, Anthony Gill, Johnny Gill and Mark Hays.
