He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll Thomas Johnson and Wayne Mildred Martin Johnson; his sister Rheta Crowder (Herbert); and his siblings-in-law, Marlene Grisso (Charlie) and Emmanuel Spickard.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Bowman Johnson; his daughter Kristi Berry (Alan); his grandchildren, Jack and Kaeli Berry; his sister Carolyn Sue Spickard; and his nieces and nephews, David Crowder, Suzanne Calvert, Greg Spickard, Keith Spickard, Angie Spickard Reo, Cindy Grisso, Connie Grisso and Greg Grisso.
Flowers are appreciated, or donations can be made in Jimmy's memory to the "Gardens of Grace" at Wheatland Lutheran Church (PO Box 34, Daleville, VA 24083-0034) or to the Mill Creek Baptist Youth Group (11475 Lee Hwy, Fincastle, VA 24090).
