We are sad to announce that on August 4, 2021, at the age of 71, Gary Ayers of Fincastle, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Melvin Ayers, Jr. and Florence Isabelle Gunter Ayers. He is survived by: his wife Vicki Lynn Sloane Ayers; his sons, Dr. Christopher Ayers (Kate) of Henrico, Matthew Ayers (Kaitlin) of Roanoke and Jordan Ayers of Fincastle; his grandchildren, Maya Ann Ayers, Clara Grace Ayers, Asher Allen Ayers and Phillip Elias Ayers; his brothers, Emmett Melvin Ayers, III (Ruth) of Vinton and Steve Ayers (Peggy) of Clifton Forge; and his children, Juno and Pumpkin. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
