He was predeceased by: his parents, Odell Ben Cannaday and Rosie Alice Cannaday; and his brothers, Jimmy Cannaday (Betty) and Kermit Cannaday (Minnie Lou). He is survived by: his wife Rita Cannaday; his children, Angela Hatcher (Michael) and Michael David Cannaday (Bridget); his sister Mary Jane Murphy (James); his grandchildren, Marshall Ray Hatcher and Mychael Rose Hatcher; his brother-in-law Donald Cannaday; and his close friend Ernie Setliff.

In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials can be made to Pleasant Hill Church, 90 Sherwood Lane, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
