He was predeceased by: his parents, Landon Gayle Atkins and Adeline Smith Atkins; and his brother Jimmy Gayle Atkins. He is survived by: his daughters, Stephanie Atkins Hein (Will) of Fredericksburg and Mary Elizabeth Atkins of Farmville, Virginia; his granddaughters, Adia Hein of Fredericksburg, Francesca Hein of Fredericksburg, Magnolia Phillips of Fredericksburg and Madison Atkins of Farmville, Virginia; and his sisters, Pamela Atkins Layman of Farmville, Mary Stewart Atkins Cunningham (Mike) of Wichita and Terri Atkins Wilson (Nelson) of Farmville. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
