He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr Thomas Earl Patteson Sr. and Annette Holman Patteson; and his son Frederick Rudd Patteson Jr. (Beki). He is survived by: his wife Gertrude Patteson; and his children, Debra, Rebecca (Derek) and David (Norma). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
