She is survived by: her husband John of Falls Church; her sons, John David Thomas of Falls Church and Mark Evan Thomas (Lindsey) of Lake Oswego; her grandchildren, Dylan J. Thomas and Molly E. Thomas of Lake Oswego, OR; her sister-in-law Sue Eickelberg of Columbus, OH; her niece Janeen Daniel (Charley) of Nashville, TN.; and her cousins, Dick Hansen (Patricia) of Niceville, FL, Bob Hansen (Joyce) and Ron Hansen (Wendy).

The cause of death was Alzheimer's. Ruth was born on November 29, 1940 in Fairmont, Minnesota to Elmer and Emma Eickelberg.
