He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. William T. Dempsey and Mary Barry Dempsey; his daughter Diana; and his sisters, Peggy and Ellen.
He is survived by: his daughter Eileen; and his wife Jean. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Instead of flowers, his family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota.
