“To all of Joan's family, I share in your feelings of loss and sadness. While we had lost touch in the last few years Joan will always be a cherished part of the memories of my youth. We became fast friends at 11 years old and it has lasted all these years. I do not have a single memory of my childhood that does not include Joan.
