He is survived by: his close friends, Beth and Pascal; his uncle Ingo; his wife Carol; his daughter Melissa (Matt); his granddaughter Hallie; his sister Erika (Jose) of Rio Rico; his niece Drew (Jeff); his nephew Peter (Alyssa); his sister-in-law Cristina; his niece Leah of Baltimore, Maryland; his father-in-law Bob (Uschi) of Karlsruhe; his aunt Johanna; his niece Natasha of San Miguel; his sister-in-law Karen of Racine, Wisconsin.; and also, Libbie, Mark, Philipp, Christoph, Ratingen, Endres and Daniel.
Finally, the need to stay closer to home during the pandemic led him to rediscover a passion for reading books, especially those by Barbara Kingsolver as well as Braiding Sweetgrass and other books on nature and trees.
When the pandemic upended the corporate catering business he supported, he turned to helping people in need get donated food assistance.
